My 2017 Sewing Plans Make Nine

I am looking forward to a new year and starting to plan my sewing makes for 2017. There are so many patterns out there that I would like to try that I found it really difficult to choose 9.  This year it is important to me to challenge myself to learn more sewing techniques.

The Agnes top from Tilly and The Buttons is the first I have chosen because I would like to add some more staples to my wardrobe and this is such a lovely pattern.  Cant stop dreaming about all the lovely colours and prints I can make this in.

The second pattern is also from Tilly and the Buttons, The Cleo dress.  I think this is a great dress.  I’m planning to make it in maybe a dark denim or a needlecord material.  It looks really comfy to wear and something that will be great for a few seasons.

I don’t have very many maxi dresses in my wardrobe so it would be nice to add something a bit different. This pattern is made by By Hand London and it is called the Anna dress.  I have seen lots of versions of this dress and it looks very pretty.  looking forward to giving it a go possibly in a cotton lawn ready for the summer, although it feels a million miles away at the moment

Another pattern I have had my eye on for a while is from Deer&Doe, the Cardamome dress.  The neckline detail is gorgeous and its a sewing technique that I think will challenge me.

I haven’t made any shirts yet so I thought it would be nice to add something a little different.  This is the Bruyere shirt also from Deer&Doe.  I already have the fabric in my stash that I will be using to make it.  I will use a brushed cotton in a red and navy check with navy buttons.  I bought the fabric from Fabrics Galore at the Knitting and Stitching show back in October and have been waiting for the right pattern to use it.
I haven’t made many pairs of trousers and would like to master this skill so have signed up for the trouser course with Sew Over It.  Lisa Comfort takes you through step by step how to make these Carrie trousers.  Which I think will look great in the summer.   The course will also talk you through how to fit trousers which is something I would like to work on.

Another technique I would like to try this year  is boning and the Rosie dress also from Sew Over It will give me the opportunity to give this a try.

This is a beautiful summer dress which I am imagining in a cotton fabric.  The pattern is from McCalls and its number M6742 which I purchased from ebay.  I just love the way the hem dips down at the back.

and my final pattern that I would like to make is the Brumby skirt from Megan Nielsen.  I have sewn a lot of dresses and think it would be nice to have a few more separates in my wardrobe.  Really love the shape of this skirt and think it would be nice in all different types of fabrics.  I have been thinking of maybe a light weight denim might be nice.

These are some of the patterns that I have been dreaming about, I hope to get stuck into them and share with you the results in 2017.  Let me know what your sewing plans are and how you get on.
